Rear Brake Torque Arm Fitting.

Is the rear brake torque arm straight or does it have to small bends?
Alternatively if it is straight, is there a spacer between it and the brake plate?

Bolt 24-0209 3/8" 26tpi x 1"
Nut 15-1166 castellated
Washer EB76 plain washer ??
Split pin 66-6257

The one inch long bolt seems a little long if a spacer isn't used ??

Re: Rear Brake Torque Arm Fitting.

The torque arm should be straight with no spacer as far as I'm aware.

Re: Rear Brake Torque Arm Fitting.

Rob is right. Torque arm has to be straight for the lower chain guard, and bolts to the outside of the brake plate arm. Ron

Re: Rear Brake Torque Arm Fitting.

Thanks Rob and Ron.

Can either of you confirm the size of the 3 fasteners on the torque arm for the mounting of the chain cover?

Is it 10/32" pan head screws?

Re: Rear Brake Torque Arm Fitting.

The RAF spares list gives the screw part numbers as 1-4606, the 1939 civy spares list says that's diameter 3/16" by half inch long but it doesn't give a thread?

Re: Rear Brake Torque Arm Fitting.

Probably 3/16" Cycle thread originally...10/32 fillister heads work as a substitute...Ian

Re: Rear Brake Torque Arm Fitting.

Again, I've used 2BA stainless, and the same for the cap over the bearing on the other side of the wheel. Ron
