Hi All,

Im closing my m20 gear now and everything is going well untill im trying to thight the bolts of the inner cover .

There are 4 bolts for the inner cover : 2 on the left side bottom and top and another 2 that are also holding the locking strip .

when im closing the 2 bolts that are hoding the locking strip than I can`t change gears, tried to open them a bit and gears are moving,

any ideas?

Many thanks

Re: Closing M20 Gear

You have to shim for endfloat using extra gaskets between the middle and inner castings, soons like this should fix it. Read the how to in the twch section if you haven’t already, it’s very good but you need to read it more than the once.
Good luck!!

Re: Closing M20 Gear

Hi Scott,

many thanks for your advise

That make sence , shouldnt i also add shimms on the main shaft since im actually moving the inner cover a bit far?

Could not find any related prccedure on the tech section, could you please guide me to the correct one?

All the best,

Re: Closing M20 Gear

You need to shim each shaft separately to give .005"-.010" end float. If you scroll through Neal's page here (in technical) to "gear box tips" he explains it.
