For those of you who have etched a gas tank with phosphoric acid:

Morning Gents,

(To be honest: This is about my BMW R51/3 bike, that has a problematic gas tank).

I have read a lot of material on the subject, including what snowbum wrote (BMW forums) -
(https://bmwmotorcycletech.info/fuelmiscl.htm), my problem is that in every reference to the material/procedure, the word "solution" is attached and from this I conclude that we are not talking about pure phosphoric acid, but a certain mixture.
Yesterday I got a gallon of (almost) clean pure phosphoric acid: H3 PO4, 85%.
The information I am missing is how much water to mix with the acid? What is the ratio?
Or is this already the ready-to-use solution, and I should use it as is?

Another thing I'm not really sure I understood correctly: Is it true that after removing this specific acid from the container, there is no need to go through neutralizing and it can be washed straight with 2 -stroke oil for preservation?

Thanks in advance, appreciate any help!

Michael

I aim for around 3% end concentration. Don't throw it away afterwards, you can reuse it a couple of times.
