They are ever so slightly oval
Drilled & tapped at the end - where a bolt & large washer are used to secure the rubber

I would think it would be possible to convert the later drivers footrests to the earlier pattern.

It's worth a try, I think. In 18 months of collecting the parts for this bike, I've not seen a pair for sale.

Anyone know the thread diameter?

20 years ago when I tried building a KM20 I could only find one original, I don't imagine it has gotten any easier, so I drilled and tapped a post war footrest for the other side, it didn't look bad but with hindsight I probably should have ground/filed it down a bit.
