Today I had a revelation that may give joy to the BSA community.
I finally realised that the LV7/BC/xx-xxx part numbers for handlebar controls given in the spare parts list of contract S5161 machines built late 1944/early 1945 actually are BSA part numbers!!
O&M does refer to standardised handlebar controls but only to Triumph 3HW contract S5340, RE WD/CO contract S1546, BSA M20 contract S7218 and Ariel W/NG contract S6287, but not in relation to Norton!
Next issue of the bible should therefore be edited to include "Norton WD16H contract S5161". Also a note at the Norton section that not all machines were delivered with a 1" handlebar.
Rather silly I did not see this before! Better late than never.
I just did not connect BC to be the code for BSA in the LV7 listing.
It will be added to the next issue of the WD16H website.
It includes also the clutch lever assy LV7/BC/18-455 (BSA part number 18/455), and the exact same number for the front brake lever assy.
Basically it is the complete standardised handlebar controls as mentioned by O&M for the other motorcycle manufacturers as also shown in last edition O&M page 31 for Ariel W/NG.
No brand is mentioned but as already noted they may have been made by both Amal and Doherty.
Is there an illustrated BSA parts list for S7218? If so can somebody send me a copy of the relevant pages?
