Under the paint

I have started to strip the paint on my basket case 1941 WM20. Some things of interest have appeared.

The petrol tank has some sort of insignia on each side which I do not recognise.

The front mudguard has had an area of white paint on the front.

The frame has khaki (Desert ?) paint under the green.

Would the khaki have been original from the factory > I was going to paint the whole bike in Olive drab, now I am not so sure, what do you think ?

Re: Under the paint

As a general rule of thumb. At the outbreak of war, Khaki green was the service colour with Service brown coming in during 1942 and Olive drab in 1944 to comply with the US colour. Ron
