Gearbox oil level

How much oil should go in a 1946-48 version of the gearbox (1948 B33) ?

I'm filling via the filler cap hole and can only get about 250mls in before it reaches the level of the hole. This doesn't seem to be enough, or is it? I can't find much on these boxes but I didn't expect it to be less than the usual pint.

I even used warmed oil to get it to flow into the inner case quicker!

cheers

Re: Gearbox oil level

Pete I just changed the oil in my WM20 gearbox and if I'd tried to put a pint in, half of it would be on the floor. It's only a shallow bath with quite a bit of metal parts in it "EUREKA!"......When it's full, it's full. Ron:relaxed:

Re: Gearbox oil level

Thanks Ron.
I was just a bit worried as the M20 and Haynes (:face_with_rolling_eyes: ) manuals both quoted a pint. I thought maybe it was not making its way to the main case, with all the whirly bits in it, and I had just filled the outer case.
