I've just received some foot pegs from India and guess what. Not only were they not the right ones, but the foot peg they were copied from was bent.
Yes I know I should have expected it, but sometimes you get lucky and the part is usable.
So what is it with these foot pegs and mounts that gets dealers to ask £200.00ukp or more for used items?
Surely someone could make these and be able to retail them for less.
The original splined tubes that support the footrests are often (usually) bent....The bike only has to be dropped once to do that....However, bent tubes that have a good spline can be quite easily straightened and re used....Tap a piece of 1/2" diameter bar through the tube (it will usually go in with a little persuasion) and then straighten the tube using a flypress or similar...Once straightened remove the bar and check the fit of the footrest bar...Light application of a round file, reamer or half inch drill will complete the job if required....They can be straightened cold...
I've done many like this and used them again....Ian
