Hello,
I just got advice from a local British bike shop to just go with a 60 over piston. The WM 20 already has a 20 over with deep scoring.
Can anyone recommend a good supplier of a piston and rings?
Thanks
Thanks John,
Since I am not in a hurry to finish the restoration I am going to take the cylinder to a local expert to determine how big we have to go to clean up the cylinder.
.60 over and rings are harder to find.
The local fellow did have a point to just do .60. He said in my life time and the next owner will not wear the cylinder out.
If .40 will do then that is what I will purchase.
Thanks to you and Ian for your help.
or replace the sleeve and go with a stock piston. Probably cost the same when you factor in the high prices that +060 pistons fetch. If you have an unlinered barrel you can fit a bigger piston for a little bit more oomph
On many occasions if a barrel finds it's way to us, it because it's horrible in some way. The nice jobs seldom come here.
So often a custom liner is required. Especially if it's discovered whilst boring out to removing an old one.
We hold centrifugally spun iron castings in a few common sizes, so if the machine is free we can knock up specials very fast.
On a side note I was called by westwood many years ago, and had to say "sorry but we don't have the capacity to make your liners"
