E Bay Welbike

Came across this on Evil bay ........ sorry don't know how to put a live link it will have to be copied and pasted :)

Any thoughts advice on this one say's a Mk1 ? but the engine numbers are covered up. Also there's an engine for sale by the same seller £2250.00 , numbers look a bit odd and looks as if the alloy has been rubbed up ?

Sorry if the seller is on this forum its not meant offend but I'm just curious as to originality of it being a Mk1 as the engine and frame number will only be given when its sold ?

Re: E Bay Welbike

I'd say that the complete bike is genuine but the spare engine has definitely been altered. the raised cast in "No" before the XXE number is completely sanded off.

Re: E Bay Welbike

I asked him about the engine and this his reply.

Hello John,

As said in the description, it is 100% an original welbike XXE engine. Myself, Welbike uk, and a few other welbike owners all agreed that it is defo original. It also had the correct brass carb and air filter on before. My view, along with a couple others is in the description! It was in a little home made bike made from a welbike that was made in the 50s.

Kind regards
A

Re: E Bay Welbike

The number font looks correct, but I wonder why the raised "No" prefix has been sanded off. All the Junior Deluxe engines had it....It spoils it.
