Frame work

Hi
Has anyone ever tried to or successfully removed the braized on foot peg brackets from the rear section of an m20 frame

Sounds a bit daft to ask - but I would like to know

Re: Frame work

Yes I did John.... With some careful sanding with my angle grinder. I did leave some extra metal on the off side to support the stand spring lug.
I also removed the battery/oil tank lugs from the saddle tube. Ron

Re: Frame work

Hi Ron

Do you think heating the braze to loosen it would allow it to be ground off easier

Or

Is it best just to grind carefully

Re: Frame work

John since these lugs wrap all round the frame tubes, melting the braze only works when you have already reduced the lugs enough to get the bits off. I seem to remember that I did use my welding torch to remove parts of the saddle tube lugs. But for the footrests, I just used the angle grinder with sanding wheel. Ron

Re: Frame work

Don't know of these specific lugs but most lugs are positioned with steel pins before they are brazed, so they probably will not turn or slide when heated.....

Re: Frame work

Yep I think I remember that Michiel. Ron
