tap and die set

im in need of taps and dies and want to avoid buying a whole set of which half of them are not used, i also dont want the indian made ones, so i found Tracy tools in the Uk who sell them individually, can anyone tell me the most common sizes i will need so i can make a set of useful ones whitworth, BA, BSC BSF

1/4 & 5/15 BSCY taps and dies, 5/16 insert kit practically guaranteed. 1/4 BSW taps and possibly insert kit again for gearbox and engine. 3/8 BSF tap and possibly insert kit for cleaning out/recovering head bolt threads.

If its an M20 we are talking about, Ian went to a lot of trouble adding the engine and gearbox threads to the technical section of Henk's site..

AFAIK all of the CEI taps & dies are made in India regardless of the brand name on them.
My tool supplier down here told me that quite some time ago.
There is just not enough market for a western tool company to set up to make them.

Also make sure you buy the tool steel ones, not the high carbon ones and make sure the dies are split .
