On the BSA M20, the exhaust pipe that goes into the head...is there anything that goes around the pipe - is it just a friction fit? Mine is loose and was wondering if something went around the pipe like a gasket. Thank you!
The port has a slight taper and the pipe is just a push fit. If the pipe is loose in the port it can be overcome with a smear of 'Holts' or other brand of exhaust paste, but better to take it to an exhaust center or tube firm and get them to swage the end up a tad. My tube guys have special equipment for doing it to a precise size, but most exhaust centers will have cone shaped dollies for hammering into a pipe to expand it. Ron
