Norton, Matchless etc. Tool

One of my pet hates is trying to remove the mag sprockets from Norton and Matchless. Today I bought this tool at Kempton for 15 Quid which was demonstrated by the guy who makes them, and seems brilliant to me. The mushroom part fits between the teeth of the sprocket and the point sits on the end of the taper shaft. The lever action worked in seconds on his demo mag, so I took a chance and bought one. It's fairly self explanatory for those who want to make their own version. Ron

Re: Norton, Matchless etc. Tool

Nice one Ron, do you have to hit it with a hammer?

Cheers,

Re: Norton, Matchless etc. Tool

No! It's a direct pull on the sprocket against the taper. Better than levering against the ally case or trying to fiddle with a small two leg puller. Need to give it a try sometime. Ron

Re: Norton, Matchless etc. Tool

I like that Ron, the manual shows the same principal made from a small tyre lever hooked at one end and a slight bend where it meets the shaft. That is a much better tool and adjustable. I want one..!
