Red Eagles

I know this might be a little off topic, but I am hoping someone will be able to help.
My late father was in the British Army, 1st Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, 5 Brigade, 4th Indian Division, 8th Army and saw service in the Western Desert, Belgium, Italy, France, Greece, Dunkirk, Macedonia.
I am currently restoring a 1942 WDM20 and was looking at doing it up in memory of my late father. I know the 4th Indian Division insignia was a red eagle with a black background.
I have been looking through the internet but have not found anything relating to type of motor bikes that might have been used if any.
Does anyone have any other information that might help, color of the bike, anything else that might have been on the tank, any information or help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Mark.

Re: Red Eagles

Hi Mark

That's quite a question, I don't suppose there is a simple answer that covers a unit through every theatre of the war, some middle east machine were painted in sand others were left in green or brown and allowed to fade down in the sun.

After a certain time motorcycles were only meant to have the arm of service marking, red over blue for RA with the appropriate number in white, it may be possible to work that out if you can decide on where and when you want to portray it?

Re: Red Eagles

Hi Rob
Thank you for your answer. It was only after reading your reply and looking back over what I had written that you are correct in saying there is no one answer. I need to put my thinking cap.
