Re: worldwide web under fire?

I visited that same website today and with the same result as Rob. During a google search I found an interesting photo but wasn't able to visit that website.

This is that website: http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/

Re: worldwide web under fire?

A lot of US pages come up with that message. It's because they're data harvesting in ways that European law doesn't allow so they block European addresses rather than risk prosecution or fines.

Re: worldwide web under fire?

Ric got it right.
If you remember last year or the one before we all had to agree to some protocols which none of us bothered to read or be removed from this forum & most others that were hosted by EU servers.

As Ric mentioned it was all about data mining and the way the web sites collect it & who they sell it to.
Trust me it is for our own protection and it is a very good thing as well.

The world will not come to an end because you can no longer view some pages.
Eventually the rogue ISP's will comply with regulations or the owners of sites on restricted servers to move them to another one.

Remember 20 years back the best we had was listserve , no images, no video , just emails.
Even then we managed to rebuild out bikes and go on rides
The BSAMCC of NSW put up their first web page in 1999 and there was just plain text on a flat coloured background.
Ten years before that and it was lines of green type on a grey screen And we still managed to spread information.

When the first WM20 , B50 or BSA service sheets CD's came out, one of the driving forces for them was you could not have that much data on a web page and if you did it would take a full day to download on dial up speeds.

Re: worldwide web under fire?

I have a lot of trouble gaining websites in China as YouTube, facebook, Gmail and many other sites are banned. So I run a VPN software that allows access, the one I use is Astrill.

Use the free Epic privacy browser and enable epic's encrypted proxy and you will have no more problems.
