Re: WM 20 SMITHS SPEEDO WANTED

Hi Tony, there have never been more original speedo’s available than now.....
Check Stuart Bray’s website or Ebay.... here’s an example;

Re: WM 20 SMITHS SPEEDO WANTED

Tell me about it! My bike had the wrong model Smiths speedo fitted so I’ve just sold it and got a tidy sum towards a genuine correct one

Re: WM 20 SMITHS SPEEDO WANTED

Thanks for that Sven, I’m watching that one but not sure its not been opened, the face looks a bit out of line, I’m hoping to get one through someone on the forum as I’ll be happy it’s the real deal

Re: WM 20 SMITHS SPEEDO WANTED

Auto jumbles are a good place to buy a WD type speedometer, at last years Founders Day rally there was a dealer selling reconditioned speedos he had two WD types amongst about twenty odd other chronometrics, £300 cash or £150 plus your old one in exchange, don't know if he does other jumbles but he's been at Founders Day the last few years.

Re: WM 20 SMITHS SPEEDO WANTED

Steve might be referring to Malcolm Leech (often rebuilds WD speedos) 0121 559 7306
Or try David and Phil Woods. http://www.chronometricspeedos.co.uk/page2.html

Re: WM 20 SMITHS SPEEDO WANTED

I believe that Dave Horror bought a nice Jaeger-pattern early-type WD speedo from Malcolm Leech last year and David Woods will usually exchange any decent rebuildable Chronometric for one rebuilt to WD spec. I have an idea that the internal frames differed if the trip was not fitted but it is not visible once built and his faces are good.

There is no cheap way to obtain a decent working instrument. The only savings to be made are perhaps in not paying over the odds for a donor.
