I have just found the remains of a small bronze bush inside the gearbox mainshaft at the end where the clutch pushrod protrudes into the gear selector end of the gearbox. It looks like the remains of a bush for the pushrod to run in. I've not come across this in other BSAs nor can I find reference to it in parts lists or drawings. There is not one at the other end of the shaft.
I am removing the remains od the bush as the sharp edges have scored the pushrod.
I guess I'll have to get someone to machine a bush for me !
Unless anyone on here knows more about the bush?
