A list of the work carried out on their own motorcycles by 27 Armoured Brigade Workshop during June / July 1944
With WD serial numbers which should allow you owners to see if your frame number was there...The amount of clutch trouble is remarkable but of course these bikes were escorting tank transporters with disabled armour from units who were right in the thick of it. One of the machines was 1939 production. These were not base workshop repairs and do not seem to have resulted in 'rebuild' census numbers.

Your guess is as good as mine, Luis. I'd suspect a short-circuit caused the wiring and dynamo to burn out. There isn't much else, is there ?
Thanks for suggesting doing the donkey-work on the numbers, Henk. I was too tired last night. Even if there are no 'survivors', it would be quite something to find any in the Key Cards and see where they ended up after the war. It might make it clearer if any quantity of machines that had been used in the N.W Europe campaign went back to the UK for demob. Everyone likes to imagine that their bike might have seen some action.
Only one of these BSA's made it in to the key cards. For some I don't have enough information to find out what the frame number could have been.
