Hi all,

Where was this picture taken. Looks like Indonesia or Papua New Guinee. Dutch Netherlands Indonesian Army. Other ranks wore mixed British and American uniforms. My dad was a soldier over here from 1945-1949. He did wear even Japanees boots due to shortage of uniforms.

The sign is a dutch flag wit the words in Dutch;"No entrance", I guess.

Is there any more info about this picture??

Hi Henk,

Thanks for the information. It was just as I thought.

Re: Forum Photo

I notice that the rear carrier is the same type that I was selling some time ago, bolted straight to the mudguard and only has one cross member, I was told they were wrong but obviously they are not, I still have two left and they are available if anyone wants one.

Re: Forum Photo

Isn't that simply the early-pattern rear carrier ? Who said that it was wrong ?

The bike is a bit of a mixture - it has an early tank but non-valanced guard and the speedo looks to be central. They appear to be fitting a civilian-type rear lamp...and now we're changing them all back again :relaxed:

Is the sign definitely on Dutch colours or did the Electrical & Mechanical Engineers continue with the REME Red / Yellow / Blue ?

Re: Forum Photo

For the late early model the combination of the balloon tank and non-valanced rear mudguard is original.
