Batteries by post,seen this?

From the ikba site,

I've just seen this from David Silver Spares on the Royal Enfield GB Facebook group. Better get your orders in quickly...

"Due to upcoming changes to the re-classification of sulphuric acid, we will no longer be permitted to sell batteries by mail order that contain acid packs. The new legislation comes into effect on 1st July 2018, to ensure we meet the deadline, we will cease our sales after Thursday 28th June, or until stocks last.

99% of our battery range will be affected, we will still be able to supply a pre-filled battery to anybody who is collecting from our offices, or we will be able to supply a dry charged battery mail order, however, it will be upto the end user to find an outlet who is willing or able to fill the battery for them, I would image this will be extremely difficult.

We were given little advance warning of this, and it has not been widely publicised, please also be aware this not only effects us, but all outlets!! Therefore if you are in need of a battery in the near future, please make sure you order it in the next few days."

Just another benefit brought to you courtesy the habits of imported scum.

Re: Batteries by post,seen this?

Poms have been acid attacking each other from the day acid was invented.
Sulphuric acid is a very hazardous product to be sent by mail even more so now days with automated mail sorting.
It has been banned from the post down here for at least 20 years and rightfully so.

Now if you want to blame some one, then do some simple research.
The culprits are idiots who send it in packages that are not suitable for safe carriage by post.
So go & bitch at the Chinese battery factories and the evilbayes who resell them.

Re: Batteries by post,seen this?

???????

I've been buying batteries by post on and off ebay for donkeys years, everyone comes well and safely packed with never a problem.
Actually these days it comes by courier as post won't accept even a dry torch battery.

Acid spraying is an imported habit, no getting way from it. And its on the increase.

Your last para is too stupid to respond to.

Re: Batteries by post,seen this?

This difficulty has nothing to do with the postal aspect. In the UK now, it is necessary to have registered for and purchased a licence before being even able to buy battery acid. The alternative is that the seller (who will also have to be registered and licensed) has to fill the battery before sale...which means that the potential felon will have to tip it out again.

It falls under the explosives precursors legislation.

Re: Batteries by post,seen this?

Even the peroxide used for dental hygiene has been watered down; Can't buy decent weedkiller either.

It's easier to ban the tool than address the real problem of the user.

Re: Batteries by post,seen this?

Or just buy a dry cell battery.........
