Bearings

Hi

I had thought I had all bearings obtained for my engine rebuild but !!

I have the following
Timing side
MRJA 7/8 - RHP
RMS 7 - SKF

Drive side
6295C3

I am short a bearing, but had thought one of these was the additional drive side bearing

RMS9 (Q22 scribed on it) Hoffmann
NF305 - NSK
NF305 - SKEFKO

All the above bearings are bigger outer diameters and inner diameters, the RMS9 being the closest

Do I still need to get this last bearing in or is there some trickery involved here

It’s my first engine rebuild so apologies to the more experienced in advance

Re: Bearings

Hi

I may have partially answered my own question by digging out the crankcases i’ve Had vapour blasted

I see the drive side crankcase does have 2 bearings ofbdifferent outer diameter separated by a large spacer

Just need to know if this NF 305 i have here is the one I need

Re: Bearings

Ian & Darren

Thank you for your confirmation on bearing usage

It seems I have what is required to move on with this task

Just got to figure on how to get the bearings into the cases without damage to either -
hydraulic press available - correct press tools no !

Darren
Nice to have met at Telford, you are the go to bearing man, once I get this this 1st time build behind me I have another 2 to go so I will be in touch with you for sure

Re: Bearings

Put the bearings in the freezer overnight..(in a plastic bag)...In the morning heat the crankcases to at least 100 degrees C...

The bearings/outers should then more or less fall into the cases.

Check before commencing that there are no burrs in the bearing housings.

Also, on the drive side, fit the outermost bearing, then drop the bearing retaining clip into the crank case and finally fit the inner bearings outer race...The clip can be located in its groove once the case has cooled....Ian
