mystery spare..

Hello, can someone tell me what it is? It looks like a filter to be mounted on the spark line.

Re: mystery spare..

It's simply an in-line wireless suppressor.

Re: mystery spare..

it will be by chance that this is a sidecar raf and working at the airport did not want to interfere with radio communications, it is a guess!

Re: mystery spare..

They were fitted from 1941 or so. Presumably radio interference from motorcycles was a problem in the presence of 'Fitted for Wireless' vehicles.

Suppressors in general are not thought of as a good thing if using a magneto.

Re: mystery spare..

thanks again Rik, I found it among the many pieces I have, I ask for this!

Re: mystery spare..

Marco, the WD HT lead was often cluttered as they were also fitted with an immobilizer. The idea of this was that under the rubber protection cover is a knurled brass connector, You pulled the rubber back, undid the brass connector, then you could put the top half of the HT lead in your pocket so that no one could steal your bike.
