I was very pleased to be invited to visit the Dutch lads in Zeeland for a long weekend. What a fantastic place, we were made very welcome.
It was perfect for riding around on bikes with 13bhp as there's no hills Beautiful countryside and we were given guided tours of 3 museums with some fantastic militaria, and lucky enough to be let into one of the museum's store warehouses where there's some amazing vehicles. The owner even let us take out the German BMW and sidecar for a ride.
A big thank you to the Dispatch Riders, Zeeland club for looking after us
Thanks for our clogs, we are now honorary Cloggies
Have you tried walking backwards in them Glogs yet
I think that tall tracked vehicle is a 'Buffalo' The paddles on the tracks propels it through the water. Handy for beach landings on Pacific islands. See you tomorrow you Globe trotter you. Ron
Very nice Dave! These legally approved safety shoes look well on both of you..
Regards, Sven
Thanks Sven We were told they are classed as safety shoes in the work place, they might be ok if something fell on your foot but you break your neck walking in them. I padded mine with some more socks inside and they stayed on my feet ok. Notice we only went out at night wearing them
What a great bunch of blokes (and women), we were really well looked after and had a great time.
Yes Ron, it's a Buffalo. Used by the British, Canadian and Polish to get across the Scheldt river to attack the Germans in 1944. I climbed up a ladder to look inside.
The Universal carrier is a flame thrower, you can just see in the back on this picture. One hit on this and I think it would blow up
And the Universal Carrier looks like a MK1 fully equipped 'Ronson' flame thrower. It also looks like its had extra front armour attached. I wouldn't mind some pictures of that if you've got some. Ron
