Hello folks, I see a fair few photos of restored WM20's with black painted headlight rims and probably the same number again, painted green. Was this apostwar trend, or just down to batches ? as I'm in the process of painting my DU42 assembly. Thanks for any pointers in advance Pete.

Are you referring to the complete masks ?

The straightforward rims fitted in the paper mask period seem to have been service colour.

The masks varied but black all over seems to have been more common.

In the picture quite a few blackout mask are obviously in service colour.

Leon, I posted that photo to show that both were used. I don't think that there is a right and wrong but black seems to have become more common as time went on.

I've just received a lovely N.O.S complete DU42 headlight and the rim is mat black while the body is Olive Drab... Dunno if this helps?
