The previous owner started resto, girders done, frame, engine, gearbox wheels and tyres
I want to take it back to Military specifications ( paint etc)

Would any of the gurus be able to give me any information on its provenance, I know its not matching numbers!
Your BSA is build under contract C11101 - 31. For this contract they used UK tank numbers from C4635001 up to C4640000. Your BSA WM20 57279 had tank number C4638867, this number would be painted over on arrival in Australia with Australian tank number 83771. Your engine is slight earlier then the frame.
Here two pages (send by email), one from the BSA factory ledgers, as you can see your BSA left the factory 30-3-1942. Also a page with your frame number in it from the Australian archives with your Australian tank number in it.
Here also a few photos (send by email) of BSA's with tank numbers close to your BSA, this is what yours also looked like back then.
