Well new to me that is.
I believe it's a 1941 frame with a 1942 engine. I think. Engine # wm20 44223 frame # wm20 62392.
Can anyone confirm that.
In Australia but being transported from Adelaide to the west coast later in the week.
It is missing its rear number plate and speedo among a few things.
Just wondering what type of rear number plate and tail light it should have.
Also what model smiths speedo would have been fitted.
Looking forward to coming to grips with the old war horse.
Thanks in advance.
That is an interesting one, only the other day another guy down under was asking about frame number 44226. Very close!!! Yes, 1941. The engine is 1942 and another Aus guy, according to the tech sheets, has 62386 so another close relative.
Thanks Ramon.
I haven't seen that type of number plate before. There's not much of it is there.
It looks like the 41 used the small type rear carrier.
My rear guard does not have a central rib. Anyone know if that is correct?
Normally, the rear mudguard of a 1941 WM20 used to have a rib, but when damaged during later years they assembled what was available at the time in the REME workshops. So you will see a lot of early war bikes with later wartime parts such as mudguards, petrol tanks, headlights or whatsoever.
I figured I better show a couple of shots of my WM20. This is the bike prior to being loaded for the trip to Perth.
I can't seem to get a photo to load directly to the forum even when copy/pasting IMG URL from Photobucket.
Anyway click on the link if you're interested. I'll post some more if I can sort it out.
