Some of you may remember the G3 i purchased back in september in civvy trim an early 39/40 model that was sent to the middle east, i used her on the road and did 380 trouble free miles before putting the uniform back on, and as a relative was in Egypt with the 8th Army at that time it is finished in light stone to honor all those that fought against the Italians and Nazis
Hi Barry, that is a nice job and it is not very often that people restore their bikes to desert colours. I have a photo somewhere of a 7th Armoured Div Ariel in Normandy with the markings clearly showing. Could you possibly ping me the frame and engine numbers for my database of surviving G3WO and G3L motorcycles. I'm up to about 200 now and surprisingly about equal numbers of both. Cheers John Tinley
Matchless were a firm who painted WD engine/gearbox cases from new. The earlier panel in tank models seemed to have had the complete engine/gearbox painted, the later model had the engine in raw ally and a painted gearbox. I'm sure the parts list states that replacement cases are supplied painted. Ron
