Primary Chaincase

I am going to replace the cork gasket on the primary chaincase on my M20...and I have removed all the screws and the footrest but the chaincase refuses to come off.......any tips on what's the best way to remove it????????

All suggestions appreciated.

Re: Primary Chaincase

Hi Jimmy,

If you made sure that all the screws are out and as you mentioned-
The footrests, then the cover must have been glued on with silicone
Or something last time it was put on.

I would try to screw out the inspection hole cover and try to pull the primary cover
With my fingers first, holding it trough the hole.
it should give way in some point.

If not, you can try to heat it around the edges,
But it might harm the paintwork, unless you have a heat blower.

Noam.

Re: Primary Chaincase

I'm not sure heat will help if its stuck together with silicon?

Many thanks for that Noam.
It worked.
New gasket installed and screws tightened as per tighten one skip one etc......
