I've just bought a solo Briggs sidecar that was until recently attached to an Ariel VH. As I'm slowly restoring a SQ4 I might fit it on that some time in the future.
However, I currently have an M21/B31 hybrid bike that I built from a '49 M21 engine and '52 B31 frame.
Am I right in thinking that the B31 frame is not designed nor strong enough to pull a small chair?
If not then I'd be tempted to look for an M21 frame and rebuild the bike around that.
If it can be done on the B31 I guess I'd need to fabricate some attachment brackets.
Hi Bernie..I have a 1951 rigid B33 and I would say that frame is not well suited to sidecar useage...BSA offered the M range for exactly that purpose and didn't fit any lugs to the B Series frame as it was sold as a 'sports' machine in the rigid guise....
The plunger is a bit better as it is more heavily constructed at the rear...
Saying all that I have seen them all with sidecars fitted...
Personally I'd go for the M Series set up...It's easier and neater to attach a sidecar to and constructed more substantially to cope with the extra loads...Ian
