Hi i was looking around on the net for ex Irish army wm20's and found a reference to them being used by the Irish coastguard. I wondered if this is this true and if so how many and were they given any extras or modified in anyway?like pontoons !
The one i saw for sale (now sold from what i can see) was one from the purchase of the 1944 made ones.
any information would be appreciated.

Quite possible I would have thought...Motorcycles were issued to and used by many official bodies apart from the Armed forces.
BSA were also very active in selling directly to fleet users......
In the UK for example..the AA, the RAC, the Fire Service, the Forestry Commission, the Milk Marketing Board, the Home Office, the Dept. of Agriculture etc...Also many rear echelon units, such as anti aircraft batteries, bomb disposal etc...Ian
