Tool Box Catch Type

Hi all, (Happy Easter)

Please see below a picture of my tool box catch .... Is there a name for this type of catch ? And do we know when this type of catch were introduced ? ...... I've never seen this type before ..... Also please note there is a Hasp built into the tool box too ! ...... Rob do you have a spare padlock that will fit for sale 😉

Kind regards,

Mark

Re: Tool Box Catch Type

We have seen these hasp type fittings before. But I don't think it's a BSA fitment. More likely done in a workshop. Ron

Re: Tool Box Catch Type

I don't think I have seen that type of hasp before, but it explains the small hole in this second type of screw catch, which I think was also used on Royal Enfield's?

Are the holes big enough for a padlock or would there have been a wire chain or spit pin to stop the catch unscrewing?

Re: Tool Box Catch Type

The toolbox fastener itself is the early type fitted to the M20 before the introduction of the more commonly seen 'toggle' fastener...

Here's the same one fitted to my WB30....Ian
