Just taken in a Lucas LRS 170 starter motor in to be re-brushed (motor is from a JCB telehandler). I would like to do it myself next time, but my soldering iron is not hot enough to melt the ?phospho-copper? bond on the brush wires. Also, when connecting new brushes, what material should I use? Does normal solder have too low a melting point for a big starter motor? I would be interested in anyone's thoughts, as I would like to be able to do this myself next time. Regards Pat
