HF1140 LUCAS 6V HORN

I've finally got my hands on a HF1140 horn for my 1940 BSA M20😃

I've studied a lovely photo of an M20 sporting such a horn but I can't quite see how the horn is fastened to the machine

Question ...... Does the horn bracket bolt onto the seat Spring bracket? Or does the horn bracket actually bolt into the rear mudguard ?

Any guidance is greatly appreciated👍🏻

Kind regards,

Mark

Re: HF1140 LUCAS 6V HORN

Hi Mark,

It bolts to the seat spring bolt, the bolt has a hole for a reduced head 5/16 bolt to go through. Do you have the 2 mounting plates that go with the horn? Hope this helped? I was looking for an old photo I had but can't find it

Re: HF1140 LUCAS 6V HORN

Hi Dave
Thanks for that the photo's are great. I'd made up a bracket and it's pretty similar to what you have except mine was slightly longer and I bent it to bolt straight on to the spring bolt.
Cheers

Re: HF1140 LUCAS 6V HORN

I have had a few of the bolts in the past, but I could use a pair of the flat plates.

Re: HF1140 LUCAS 6V HORN

Hi Barry,
Your welcome. I understand what you have done. The photo of the original bolt, that Rob has kindly posted is what you really need, as you can see, it has the eye to bolt the horn to.
Barry, how did you get on getting some tools for the M20?

Re: HF1140 LUCAS 6V HORN

Hi Dave
Not well tried to get hold of the guy a couple of times without any luck, then got distracted when a '59 Bonneville came up for sale, so am still in the market for some. Do you know where I might get one of those bolts from?
Cheers
