Feeling a bit frustrated... Ordered a set of standard bore rings for my M20. The supplier in the UK gave me two,but missing the bottom oil ring. Contacted them, waited two weeks, got two more rings but minus the oil ring. I'm ready to say screw it and use my existing oil ring. What do you think? Thanks. Bob

I've done that before now, after i've snapped an oil control ring.

The oil control ring does rely on its own tension (compression rings are pressed onto the cylinder via cylinder pressures) to press against the cylinder - assuming it dosnt feel like chewing gum (unlikely with CI) and the two cylinder rubbing parts are still higher than the oil collecting part (dont know how else to describe .....) the you will probably get away with it ....?

I'm sure someone else with have thier opinion on this ...?
