Forum picture "lorry versus motorcycle".

I'm thinking it is, was, an Ariel?

And the street reminds me a bit of Tiverton, the junction between Bampton Street and Gold Street, but I could be wrong.

Re: Forum picture "lorry versus motorcycle".

The lorry might be an Albion...I think that you're right about the Ariel.

It's definitely an Ariel. You can see the field stand stuck up apart from several other indications. Ron

Re: Forum picture "lorry versus motorcycle".

I went to Tiverton today and took this picture, there has been so much development that I couldn't find any definite proof, but it could be.

Re: Forum picture "lorry versus motorcycle".

Does Henk have a higher-resolution copy that would let us read the name of the chemist and photographic shop ?

A 'Google' indicates that Hinton Lake who had his main shop in Exeter was at 7 Gold Street. He seems to have been a big photographic supplier.

Re: Forum picture "lorry versus motorcycle".

The photo I have is slightly better and bigger and there is a sign (not visible on the forum photo) that says Taylors chemists.

Re: Forum picture "lorry versus motorcycle".

Probably a Ariel. position of the mudguard nuts tie up and the guard is ribbed.
steering damper visible, this was delayed at some point -but I dont know when-
Only the engine shock absorber bulge looks a bit odd, but that could be from the inprint by the lorry...
