I managed to obtain the correct size spanner for my M20 gearbox sump nut today.

I have been meaning to drop the oil since purchasing my M20 three weeks ago.

When I removed the sump plug, no gearbox oil came out . It was bone dry 🙈

I swiftly added 1 pint of 40grade oil.

I have ridden my bike about 400m , and have been kicking her over regularly (twice a week) and revving up through the gears whilst adjusting my clutch.

Have I now destroyed my gearbox


After filling her up with oil I took her for a quick drive around the block, gear change felt normal !

Hi Mark..You probably haven't done any damage as you haven't ridden far and there will have been some residual oil in the box...

M20s will lose their gearbox oil rapidly under normal use if a sealed gearbox main bearing hasn't been fitted...

Check the oil level and top up as required at no more than 300-350 mile intervals...Ian
