Chronometric speedo question.

I have a D shape 110 km chronometric speedo, can I use the interior to fix an WDM20 speedo? Will this give the same reading?

Re: Chronometric speedo question.

Henk, I do think so, the earlier D shape ones have the same mechanism, but only the gears that can be unscrewed by taking the 2 screws out of the bottom, think all else is different, maybe the odometer disks can be used too?

Cheers,

Lex

Re: Chronometric speedo question.

Different. You would have to swap the whole needle mainshaft with stabilizer wheel, recorder wheel and integrator wheel! I play with them all the time. It can be done but a steady hand and magnifying glass with years of experience helps.

Go to page 9 on this site. http://www.hells-confetti.com/Technical%20data/Jaeger%20Instruments/Jaeger%20Chronometric%20Overhaul.pdf

Re: Chronometric speedo question.

Thanks for your reply. I have had every single part of these speedos in my hand so that should work out ok again. Main question is if it will be a accurate speedo using these D shape speedo parts to fix a very worn M20 speedo.

Re: Chronometric speedo question.

No. As I explained the stabilizer wheel and recorder wheel are different if you just swap the guts over. Plus there are different weighted balancer wheels.

Re: Chronometric speedo question.

Ok clear, I'll see that I fix it differently.

Thanks,
Henk

Re: Chronometric speedo question.

Can you show me some detailed pictures of your original guts? I might be able to guide you. It could be a slipping clutch on the cam wheel which is caused by oil getting on to it. It could be the four leafed spring needs rebending to engage with the ratchets on the wheels.

Re: Chronometric speedo question.

I'll sort out these speedo remains soon and post some photos on the forum. It are the remains of the D shaped speedo a Triumph speedo and an empty M20 speedo.

Henk.
