WD M 20 Thread for clutch cover screw size?

Hi I have a couple of stubborn threads in the clutch chain wheel and would like to clean the thread so I don't have to carry a huge screwdriver to undo them. The part number for the clutch cover screw is EB 379 which is only going in 3/4 of the way on two of them. Much appreciate any help on what size they are.
Regards John

Re: WD M 20 Thread for clutch cover screw size?

Hi John,

That is still open for debate but it is either 3/16 CEI or 2BA. However 2BA screws will do the job.

Kind regards,
Leon

Hi John,

If you need the clutch cover screw, it is a 2BA screws, if I remember correctly.

2BA, 3/16 BSF, M5 and 10UNF are interchangeable.

{'2BA, 3/16 BSF, M5 and 10UNF are interchangeable'}

They will fit in the hole but are not identical...The correct thread should be employed wherever possible...Ian

Thanks Ian,...

I was quoting a comment from "Draganfly" website...

https://www.draganfly.co.uk/index.php/bsa/bsa/a710--b3133--c101112--m202133/category/1028-screws

Under the top left chart...

Noam.

Best regards

Re: WD M 20 Thread for clutch cover screw size?

Draganfly also tell us: 24-722 Main bearing, timing side. Non lipped and a lot cheaper and no problem.
So what was the reason BSA specified a lipped bearing???? I think that is also old ground that has also been covered.
Do not believe all you read on a website, as far as I am concerned a 2BA screw is not a 3/16 cycle screw.

Re: WD M 20 Thread for clutch cover screw size?

Your right of course...If these threads were truly interchangeable they would be the same thread..or the same thread with a different name... ...

By 'interchangeable' they actually mean 'similar'....

I wouldn't advise fitting the 'equivalent' non lipped timing side bearing either...I've seen the damage that can do... ...

The main reason they are selling that bearing is because they are cheap..not the right thinking at all..

I invested a considerable amount of money in commissioning the correctly specified bearing from a European manufacturer but have to put up with people telling me they can get one cheaper from Draganfly...

Don't get me started on the incorrect Indian mudguards, defective oil pump drives and other non serviceable parts Draganfly sell either...

I know Draganfly carry a good range of parts and much of it is OK but don't expect it all to work and don't believe everything they tell you on the website...Ian
