This was a little query from a friend, who hasn't the correct distance piece in the rear wheel and wonders why the wheel locks up when he does up the wheel nut tight.

Hi John...The sleeve that goes through the rear hub (which the bearings are mounted on) should have a thrust washer fitted over it and against the shoulder, before the 'non adjusted' first bearing is fitted on...
If that thrust washer is missing the wheel will lock up as the spindle is tightened....Ian
