M20 . chain /primary case spacer -Outer

Hi Guys
I'm slowly getting my bike reassembled But i'm a little confused as to weather there should be a distance spacer on the outside between the inner chain case and foot peg sleeve ?
Cheers

Phil there is a spacer between the engine plate and inner chain case and another one between the inner and outer chain cases. They are identical spacers part number 66-4903 The one between the cases should have a cork seal at each end. Ron

I have foud that an O ring works a lot better than the cork washer.

Thanks Trev
I will take that on-board a good tip and makes perfect sense too

Re: M20 . chain /primary case spacer -Outer

I have found variations in the distance from the shoulder on the footrest sleeve to the back, outer face of the primary chaincase...(the space taken up by the inner spacer)

For that reason I fit the spacer over the sleeve, fit the gasket (dry) and inner cover to the crankcase and then check that the spacer behind the case is, in fact, long enough....

A gap here will be taken up as the footrest nut is tightened, bending the inner cover inwards and bringing the outer cover close to, or into contact with, the clutch cover....Ian
