Quick question - does anyone know the correct height of a new steering damper star washer? I'm trying to determine if mine is too worn, as it is nearly flat. After accounting for the thickness of the washer, I'm measuring 0.070" of rise, or uncompressed available flex. Seems pretty flat, and doesn't provide much resistance when tightening the damper knob, but I don't know what new should look like. And just to be clear, I'm talking about the steering damper, not the fork damper. Thanks!
A good question Craig...The M20 'standards' book gives no information for this spring or the side damper spring...
Bear in mind also that there should be a Thackery washer under the damper knob which also has an effect...
I have never measured this spring and don't have a new one to measure at the moment...New ones I have had in the past were pretty 'shallow'..
Hopefully someone can come up with a figure...I may try and see if Russells still have some originals in stock as it's one I wouldn't mind renewing myself...Ian
