I bought an Indian copy about 5 years ago, it wasn't square in any direction and the outlet pipe was slightly too big for an original length of pipe I had which fitted on an original filter perfectly.
However I suspect not all Indian copies will be the same, but be aware you won't always get the actual item pictured on Ebay and its a long way to send it back.

I have one original and one Indian copy Vokes........neither currently fitted either.........
The Indian copy in this instance is a faithful copy of the original........all measurements matching................
The ONLY issue was the side-strap screws that were not tapped to the original thread size.......but apart from that minor point all was good.......

Wade that is good to know that there is a nicely made Indian repro Vokes and cheap. They can do it right when they want. The brass plate has raised lettering and I once painted an original that had lost it's enamel paint, by painting the whole thing black and then carefully rub it down with fine W&D paper on a block to just expose the brass letters.
The one that you refer to that is already painted is just silk screened, so when the paint comes off.....you are just left with a brass plate
