M20 Deluxe - Front Brake plate

I have recently obtained the correct front brake plate for my 1940 deluxe M20

It needs some attention however to the brake mounting arm

It has been modified over the years and instead of having a bolt hole and slotted groove, it just has a single hole - also, the outer shape is changed due to additional metal being welded to it

Does anyone here have a brake plate that they could trace or draw around for me so that I can bring this to a local engineering company so that they can re-shape and reform for me

I would be most grateful for any assistance

Best Regards

Re: M20 Deluxe - Front Brake plate

Hi John,

I think you have an earlier brake plate. These early brake plates with just a round hole also lack the possibility of adjusting the brake shoes as it doesn't have a slotted hole for the fulcrum pin.

I have altered one for my green bike but the non adjustable fulcrum pin makes it hard to get the brakes to work ok.

Hello John

This is from M22 but is exactly same on early M20. I can give you any information you need.

Re: M20 Deluxe - Front Brake plate

Hi kalle

I will send you a photo of mine - you will see where it has been "modified"

Henk has also pointed out the plate I have is an earlier version of what I need - it should not have the hole for the speedo

I cannot believe I sold the one I had believing I had 2 of them

Doh !

Re: M20 Deluxe - Front Brake plate

John
Bluestar and empire star have the round hole, as opposed to the kidney shape on the pre war M20
