I am looking for thoughts on what constitutes a Dutch Pattern BSA. I have had brandished this question about many times over the months, and discussed it at length with Henk (mainly) and others, but never posted the question on the Forum.
Basically I am restoring my BSA back to its original specification. It is a 1940 BSA M21 Deluxe which was delivered to the Dutch Army on 06 03 1940, it later (whether re-liberated post-D Day or before will never be known), found its way back into the British Army system and was renumbered/stamped as a WM20 at some point. I am presuming it was at this conjure it received its C14... tank number (known). It has its original Buff Log Book and post-war REME rebuild plate so its later life is not in issue.
Going back to my original question, and what I am interested in is what 'constitutes' Dutch Pattern. These bikes must have been 'significantly' different, barring the 600cc engine, as the WW2 Key Cards do specify 'Dutch Pattern'.
Henk has provided an awful lot of information, both written and visual, for which I am eternally grateful; just thought I would throw it open to the Forum to see if any else is known etc!
