AC 87S spark plug

Picked up a box of 12 AC 87S sparkplugs today, the correct size and reach for the 16H just not sure about the heat range.
Have tried the Green Spark Plug website and it suggests NGK A6 as an equivalent, i am currently running an A8.
Has anyone come across these before, any thoughts on their suitability?

Re: AC 87S spark plug

An on-line search does indeed suggest that they are equivalent to the NGK A6 (now AB6).

NGK's heat codes run the opposite way to Champion, so a lower number is hotter. The '6' is quite a hot plug - the 16H is notable for needing a cool plug. Personally, I wouldn't chance it. The other way round would be fine as the worst that would happen is a fouled plug.

Using Green Spark Plug Co.'s recommendations, the A8 equates to the original KLG M80 and the A6 is closer to the M50 - I'd say far too hot for a 16H engine.

Re: AC 87S spark plug

Thanks Rik,

they will make a nice shelf ornament then, the 12 are still in the packaging.
I also picked up a v nice valve compressor (sidevalve type) and a box full of spare nuts, studs & screws for an Altette horn so the day wasn't wasted.

We rode 600km for the weekend on a girder fork run, lost one nut off the altette and one crankcase nut otherwise it ran like a train.

Iain.
