Daytona Bike Week

Sorry this is off topic but I know a few of you are into Harley's. We've just got back from Daytona Bike week and thought I'd share pictures of the latest custom craze in the USA. I must admit I'd never seen anything like it before. Custom bikes usually have long forks etc, but now "Baggers" are in. Nearly every bike we saw was a "Bagger", and the new craze is to put 26, 30 or 32 inch front wheels in them. So this is the next step for my 16H bagger.

I was also shocked at how poorly paid the bar staff are, this girl can't even affort a skirt.. or maybe she was late for work and didn't have time to get dressed..?

This poor girl only has an old Indian scarf to keep her warm

I had to buy Wendy some new knickers as well.

We went to several custom bike shows, the best for me were the "Old school" custom bikes.
I also heard about a private collection of bikes, mainly Norton’s. When we found the place we were lucky enough to be show around. They even had a BSA

Unfortunately there were no Norton's or BSA's about anywhere else we went, just bloody Harley's and a few Indians, but some lovely old ones.

The weather was fantastic and you don't need a helmet on a motorbike, but it's law to wear one on a pushbike..! But I'm glad I didn't rent a bike as I think I'd be fined. I couldn't understand why the bikes were staying in lane in the traffic jams, then I found out it's illegal to ride between the lanes so the bikes were stuck as well. I've never heard of that before and a bit pointless having a bike. They also ride really slow and it was annoying being stuck behind them on an open road.

We had a great time but glad to be home after 2 weeks of madness. I don't even want to look at my Harley in the garage

I'm now working out how to fit a 32" wheel on girder forks

Re: Daytona Bike Week

Those "Baggers" are getting close to the look of the Velocette LE! Certainly well up to the usual US standards of styling and taste. IMHO.

Somewhere that however extreme you and your bike might be you won't make an impression.. and where subtlety and understatement are alien concepts... ..Ian

Re: Daytona Bike Week

I would have loved my 16H there, definitely different than everything else.
I appreciate the work that's gone into some of these bike and it's an eye opener to see something new to me. But I'm happy with the old Brit bikes.

Re: Daytona Bike Week

Crikey! I'm not sure which is most shocking, those 'Baggers' or that girls knickers right up here arse? You certainly don't see sights like that at Newark Autojumble!
