I need to paint a Amal carb body, i have usually just cleaned them and left them alloy but this one needs to be the dark silver original finish. Any ideas of what sort of paint will stand up to this modern fuel. Personally i don't think there will be anything that won't turn soft and yellow after the first couple of contacts with petrol. Any ideas?
You can spray it with a suitable silver paint and then spray it with model aircraft lacquer...That is ethanol proof...
Alternatively I was told that you can use nail varnish, assuming you can buy/mix the colour you require..and you may have to experiment with thinners..
Again, spray it on with a small airbrush gun...
Best to take the wife with you when choosing the nail varnish... ...Ian
