Hello

I'm on the lookout for the throttle stop , I've scoured the internet but not managed found one. Does anyone know of one for sale or a good place to try ? .I've tried Hitchcocks , Baxters and looked at Enfield dealers but drawing blanks .

I looked at attaching a picture of the part but can't seem to find the menu

Dave probably you should be on the 'For Sale' page. I can't help with the part you need, other than a picture. I had a few of them once and sold the last two to Stuart Bray, but don't see them on his website. Ron

Ron and Dave, I have a terrible coroded one that could be used as a pattern for casting, maybe we can have some cast??

Need a second one for my Royal Baby.

I will go to my local foundry soon with my throttle stop and see how much it will cost to cast maybe 10 of them. Then I will post cost on here to see if anyone wants to buy them, John.

That sounds like a plan. However I've always found that it is machining the bare castings that can be the awkward, expensive part of the exercise. Ron

I agree with that.....In many ways the casting is the easy bit...

Once you have a casting that has no flat surfaces or other datum points you are entering the area of making jigs and fixtures to hold the offending item before you can machine anything...Then you have to work out the machining sequence, important tolerances etc. etc....

Time and therefore cost soon starts to rise...Ian

This is a fairly easy to machine, and sizes not too critical, exept that it should clamp well to the handlebars, but I would be happy with 2 unfinished castings, as I can do the rest myself.

Have made one years ago, by cutting, filing, and grinding it out of a solid lump of alloy, not something I would want to do again though!

I have been to the foundry with the throttle stop and the price quoted is £30 + vat, This is for casting as a"solid" all slots cable holes and pinch bolt threads will have to be done by the buyer. I have the means to do all this, so not so difficult. Please would interested parties email me and then the casting can go ahead. I have asked for an inital run of 10. Yours, John.

I went to the foundry again today and said that 5 people were interested in the throttle stops, and they will cast them in two weeks time, if anyone else wants one now is the time to ask. Dave, I would think £10 would cover the cost of finishing, Lex, you are o.k. to finish your own pair. Ron, what about you,sorry about the last poster above, forgotten your name, will you finish yours, John.

I spoke to John just now, he is having trouble with his computer and has asked me to let you know what's happening. He is still waiting for the foundry to do the casting but he's hoping it will be quite soon.

Again John is having computer trouble and asked me to post this picture. On the left is an original as used as a pattern. On the right is the bare casting and the middle is one that John has prepared. He only has five and asking £45 to cover the foundry, his fuel each way to Bridport and something towards his time machining. Ron
