Hi to the wise...I have put together my second WDM20. I have been road testing the bike. The back wheel has developed a draging sound and resistance. I thought it was the new brake shoes, but when I put the bike on the stand and rotate the wheel there is know drag sound etc just free movement. When I installed the bearings, the cups did not fit in tightly. I am thinking that the cups are rotating within the wheel hub when the wheel is weighted. The bearings are the orginals. I need to get this fixed by next weekend for a rally. My question - is there something that can be done to secure the cups into the wheel hub housing?
A very good quality bearing fit ( anaerobic adhesive ) will fill a gap of appx 0.25mm ( 10 thou in old money), but beyond that and you will struggle.
The obvious answer is to effect a proper repair but that does not help you this weekend. But the big danger is that if you use shims or tolerance rings, you could end up doing more damage than you started with.
I would try the bearing fit as a get out of jail fix, but don't rely on it long term.
